I am truly grateful to have found my passion, teaching yoga to children and teens through the integration of mindfulness strategies. My intention is to help kids build confidence, strength and flexibility, ease stress and anxiety, and be more joyful and present in their daily lives.
Having been a classroom teacher in both elementary and middle school, raising three girls, and through extensive research, training and teaching, I have become very familiar with the many stressors children and teens are facing on a daily basis. With the demands of school, extracurricular activities, obligations to friends and family, and technology use, now more than ever it’s important for children to learn to slow down, pause and take a breath.
Through the implementation of mindfulness strategies, I offer tools to bring a greater awareness to the external world, and internal emotional state, effectively using breath and movement for self-regulation, helping to improve focus, and creating a sense of safety and peace within the body and mind.
My approach to teaching is inspired by my various trainings and experiences, with the Little Flower Yoga five-element methodology at its core: Connect, Breathe, Move, Focus and Relax. My goal is to help students to become more aware of the mind-body connection, teaching poses with intention and explanation, recognizing how and when they can use the various postures, breathing methods, focus tools, and relaxation practices to enhance their physical and emotional well-being.
